Research |
Study of geometrical and electronic properties of metalorganic materials such as porphyrins to build multilayered devices. These molecules are adsorbed or co-adsorbed on a variety of substrates (Au, HOPG etc ...) either from solutions or by sublimation in UHV to form self-assemble monolayers. These systems are studied by XPS, UPS, AFM and STM.
A second very important topic of study is the investigation of substrate-adsorbate and adsorbate-adsorbate bond strengths. These interactions play an important role in 2D and 3D-pattern formations and will allow one to carefully design or select the molecules and the appropriate substrate for the formation of supramolecular structures. This is studied by UPS and XPS thermal desorption.
Furthermore, I have been extending the use of the chemistry spectroscopic facilities (XPS/Auger/UPS, SPM, IR, Raman and SEM/EDS) to outside high tech companies (http://www.wsu.edu/~scudiero).
