Chem 348 is a one credit course and grades are determined on attendance and participation only. There is no textbook for Chem 348. You cannot enroll in Chem 348 without being co-enrolled in Chem 346.

What if I have not met the pre-requisite for this course?
Pre-requisites are strictly enforced in organic chemistry. You must have earned a grade of C or better in Chem 345. If you have not earned a grade of C or better in Chem 345 you must retake that course. If you are a transfer student, you must talk with the instructor in advance (See WSU Transfer Equivalency website at https://webapps.wsu.edu/ais/myinfoservices/darstce). It is your responsibility to monitor your Degree Audit Report. If there are errors, you must talk with the Transfer Center in Admissions. Unless you have met the pre-requisites for this course, you will automatically be dropped by the end of the second week of school. This is department policy as listed in the WSU catalog of courses. Please do not ask instructors to make exceptions to this policy.

Homework will be assigned but not graded.
Is there a lab component to this course?
No.
What textbook will we be using this semester?
We will be using John McMurry’s Organic Chemistry 7th edition (ISBN 978-0495112587). You may also use an older version of this text if you are willing to do some skipping around. This text is available for purchase from the Bookie or directly from the publisher at a reduced price (http://wsuchem345.tlcservicesites.com). Note the 15% discount code in the upper left side of the website. We know this book is expensive so be sure to check Amazon.com and other sources of used textbooks before purchasing. In addition, we will have five copies of the solutions manual in Owen Science Library on reserve for your use during the semester.
Can I print in Fulmer 401?
Yes, we have two networked printers for your use. There is a 200 page print max per student per semester. We will monitor usage and increase this quota if necessary.
Where can I get help with labs and homework?
Fulmer 401 is always open to students. TA's hold office hours in Fulmer 401 as well. Any TA present can help you with questions. Office hours are posted on the course website and on the door of Fulmer 401 by the end of the first week of class. You also have full access to the computers as well as work desks, so if you need a place to do your homework, this would be a good place to start.
Gannon/Golds Dorm Lobby will have free tutoring in the evenings. The schedule will be posted with the TA office hours.
WSU’s eLearning If you have a general question, you can post it here on the course website using the discussion forums. This is a good place to post your questions since many other students have the same problems, but make sure you read through what others have asked before you post.
